What is the open bicycle computer?

The open bicycle computer (obico) is an outdoor computer that primary is constructed to show and log data that are important when you are on the road with your bicycle. Obico can either log your daily training data or it can be used to log your bicycle tour data over several days. Obico comes with a predefined software that allows you to use the features of this computer without writing your own programs. You can write your own programs for obico, but you don't have to. Obico is still under development. The most parts of the first prototype are running already but many software needs to be written yet.

No batteries required! A hub dynamo will be used to charge a li-ion cell.
Easy to use.
Audio interface, so you can listen to your favorite music while cycling.
High quality color tft-display, that adapts automatically to the lighting conditions.
Visualization of:
- speed
- heart frequency
- odometer
- audio data
while cycling.
Logging your tour data like GPS coordinates, heart frequency, speed and other parameters to a MicroSD-Card.
You can synchronize these data with your PC lateron. The amount of logged data depends on the size of your SD-Card.
GPS support is planned as an option. Location plans are scheduled.
New program features for this computer are for free and can be downloaded from this webpage.

Preconditions to use obico

SON (Schmidt's Original Nabendynamo) hub dynamo - other types may follow
Sigma or Polar pulse band - if you want to measure your heart frequency
Earphones.
